Well Sandy is now home.
It was getting a little dark out on getting her home after going to see grand father in hospital.
Touchscreen, three pedals and six gears
Same massive amounts of legroom as Piglet
Car has Kessy system
Picked up with only nine miles on the clock.
Same sexy DRLs
Dog guard and boot liner mat to go in soon
What was called the 1.4TSi ACT on Piglet, is now called the 1.5TSi ACT here on Sandy
The sound deadening under the bonnet that seems to be deleted on some VWs, still present on the Skoda

Thanks, initially the only difference was going to be the engine designation and the infotainment system as well as the 35 litre larger boot, up from 625 litres on Piglet to 66 litres here on Sandy . But it’s now got blindspot detection, keyless entry and ignition and a few other things I’ve to go through.

I’m open to suggestions as I like quite an eclectic mix of vehicles but really none at all come to mind.

Swapped over.
Sandy has just 35 litres of extra space in the boot (660 litres of space total, with the seats up and 1,950 litres of boot space with the rear seats down).
50mpgUK+ in town and on the motorway,
limousine standards of legroom for rear seat passengers,
740miles on a tank of fuel,
148bhp,
0-60mph in 8.5 secs (won’t thought your heart alight but no slouch either),
The outward size of a VW Passat, for the price of a VW Golf, luggage capacity of a small van and interior comfort of a Bentley.

Ye’, I meant to change them for LEDs on Piglet but to be honest they are sufficient, you can adjust the lighting up and down for the right amount of light you want.
The mats are carried over from Piglet, with the rubber rear tunnel mat protecting the carpet from shoes, etc... and the lounge mats I got free from another Skoda owner which angles your feet back to make it more comfortable on your legs on long journeys.

I rented an Octavia wagon with the 1.2T and a DSG in Finland and was pretty satisfied with the power, even with 5 adults and luggage. H ad some surprising high end features, too, like automatic high beams.

Now you mention it, I would like a 1936 Cord,
I wouldn’t drive it, it’d just look at it and admire it.
But that’s just popped into my head, there maybe some other classics but none spring to mind and almost certainly nothing modern stands out for me.

I thought it would look more yellowy brown but it’s a slightly, very slightly darker silver. A little boring, but I’m okay with it, better than waiting 16 weeks for a velvet red metallic and she only took two weeks rather than the four it was expected to be after the previous orderer pulled out and left the car in the build order.

I’ve found a 1.5inch fine scratch on the rear driver side door and the B pillars on the driver side are slightly marred, they are easy to scratch so I’ll polish them and put some ceramic protection onto them.

Looks great, and I’m sure she’ll be treated well.
Skoda sure picked the correct name for those cars by the way , I’d take one over a Passat every day of the week . Didn’t manage to convince my dad to get one though, as he prefered a higher seating position and chose a Karoq. It’s pretty well equipped on the inside , but a bit gutless with the 1.6 TDI .
Do they still come with the umbrellas in the door?

Ye’, it’s an old name from 1934.
1934, Skoda Superb.
1939, Skoda Superb.
Ye’, we glanced at the Kodiaq, same engines as the Superb.
The Karoq has a 113bhp 1.6TDi, which is a bit less than the 148bhp 1.5TSi.
The Karoq is a nice car though.

Sandy because the colour is cappuccino metallic (read, beige metallic), so wanted a name that reflected her colour such as sandy, tan, fawn, cocoa, coco, campino, etc... Sandy was the obvious one.
Piglet was chosen for the last one as her licence plate read PX16LYY, pigly, which became Piglet.

You’d never see it unless you were literally three inches away from it and using a bright LED light (which I was) and even then you can only see it if you were looking at it on a 20% angle (which I was).
The micromarring on the gloss pillars is common, they are so easily scuffed it’s insane they use them but the vast majority of people don’t see that sort of thing. Even a microfibre with a stray spec of fine dirt will scratch the gloss plastic badly.
This was Piglet back in May 2017 .

Is that a replacement for the Rapid?
Somehow Skoda does what VW of North America tries to do (larger, “decontented” cars), but they do it right. VW NA should just be rebadged Skodas.
Svend
> CompactLuxuryFan
02/22/2019 at 14:14 | 0 |
The Skoda Scala is a replacement for the Skoda Rapid Spaceback.
But not the regular Skoda Rapid.
Which is essentially a rebadged SEAT Toldeo
VW decontented some Skodas as they took away a lot of VW sales, but not any more.
Skodas are more known now as thinking M ans cars, practical* , economical, spacious, etc...
*plus many practical features over the VW sibling.

Only thing I can think of that Europe doesn’t get is the V6 option on family sedans. So a Camry V6? Seems like the sort of mundane thing here that might be exciting over there because it’s forbidden.
Also maybe the Passat with the VR6/DSG combo ?
I guess also the Jetta in general, but especially the GLI:
Svend
> CompactLuxuryFan
02/22/2019 at 15:27 | 0 |
The Skoda Superb Mk2 and VW Passat B8 had 3.6 V6s but the larger engine wasn’t efficient, more expansive to fue l and tax, etc...
Skoda Superb 3.6 V6. Aftermarket exhaust.
You can get the Superb as a 2.0TSi 280 bhp but in auto only.
So a Camry V6 wouldn’t be exciting as the car itself isn’t that much, but, yeah, there are some that like larger cars with larger engines but you can do a lot with a 2.oTSi.
Such as this 2.0TSi went from 276 bhp up to 580bhp then detuned a little for daily life of 540bhp .
